Wellbeing: Meditation

With self isolation and social distancing ruling our lives.  Sometimes it can help to unwind.  Even boredom can be tiring after a while!

So I thought I’d share a recent social media post by Catriona .. As well as physical wellbeing she is a passionate believer in mental welling, and thinks they go hand in hand.

Cat says:

I find meditation ‘grounds’ me after hard training sessions, stressful days & races. Perfect antidote to modern life!

I have a Teaching Diploma in Meditation Tuition along with a Level 2 qualification in Counselling and a Practitioners Diploma in Indian Head Massage.
I feel its something we could use on either the web page or social media.

This is one of the meditations I use: Using the physical as focus

Start by taking a few breaths and feel the floor beneath your feet
Feel the connection between the earth and your body
Fell your body getting heavier and heavier
Become aware of your breath. Notice how the lungs rise and fall without effort. Listen to the natural tide and rhythm of the breath…like the sound of the ocean..

Imagine that you are on a warm beach, feet and toes making an imprint in the sand
Shoulders & arms falling with each out breath
Your chest expands easily on each out breath
You start to feel the warm sun rays on your face

Feeling completely at ease with yourself and grounded
Breathe out love….breathe in love….
Breathe out love….breathe in love…

After a short while I bring myself back to the present, bringing awareness back into the room
And count from 5…4…3 becoming more aware…2….fully awake and present

The above exercise is from Nick Heaton – part of the Running Bear Team

A Thought:
This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness
