Thirty odd club members out at some fourteen events.
Victoria Pb’ on the hills in Stockport; Gareth first timed whilst Paul was a few seconds off his best. Further South, on the Macc hills: The R’s were there – Steve first timer.
The Breakfast Baron was back in Northwich seeking exercise and food.; Shazza and lady C were on hand to. Further west the J’s went to Ellesmere – Sharon first timing and second lady finisher.
Trevor moved closer to his 200th. Gareth visited Derbyshire to stretch his legs as he first timed at Bakewell.
That leaves the series runners. There were no Squires out. But elsewhere:
A few Freshers were running. At South MCR Chloe first timed. Jan and Roy were there too. At Didsbury Rachel first timed and Ash ran his quickest for ages.
The speedsters were at the Race Tracks. Mr Speed was third to finish, at a busy Stretford, with a PB too. DaveT first timed and Catherine suffered a pulled Hamstring. There were other Slickers at the Alex . Gary first timed. Paul edged himself closer to run number 600. And Sue benefitting from her Gym strengthening exercises had a fast time.
Just leaves those WAGs. At Alderley Jim was 2nd to finish, Rich and Steve ran too as did Cat, encouraging her bears around before filming. Bill forgoed his cameral and ran too.
A bigger entourage was out at Wilmslow where Lewis, Matt and Andrew were closely packed together; as was Andy and Nic23. The C’s were out; as was Mrs B. Rebecca tail cruising. Nicky and Don volunteering.
I chose this over Lyme Park in the hope of finding my gloves which I’d dropped the previous week around the scanners and big tree. Sadly not! In the slightly confident mindset that I was hoping for a Seasons Best. No ice and less mud this week. There were pacers too. Slightly confusing as I positioned myself slightly in front of the 26-minute pacer but behind the 32-minute pacer; but deliberately Infront of an elderly runner who had blocked my early progress last week. Off we went. I am careful at the start not to tread on anyone Infront of me. Ten seconds later a hefty shoulder barge from behind and a sharp elbow in the arm the elderly guy passed me! Wasn’t having that! I manoeuvred past him before the bridge. My Pace felt quick – but OK. Lots of puddles though – more than expected. At the 1k point my watch informed me 5:09!! A bit quick but still felt good. Up and down the hill I could see the other club runners. Guessed that the lady who overtook me on the uphill must be Margaret H! Another Lady passed me on the return path towards the bridge. She could have been a Houdini type of escape artist – I thought as I watched her taking off her jacket to tie around her waist and rearrange her top whilst overtaking. A 26 on the now visible shirt informed me she was the pacer I shouldn’t be following! The second 1k was 5:20 third 5:22. Getting slower now. Twenty -seven pacer has now gone by and he’s moving further away. Fourth k 5:35!! Seriously looking like being slower than last week. Probably that first k! On the last uphill. I gauge the 27-Pacer is 22 seconds ahead as I reach the summit. Pushing on a little on the downhill. After the last bend I can see the pacer. He’s slowing. I Go up a gear and ‘kick’ [if that’s the right word with my current fitness level]. He stops for a chat with the timekeeper! I cross the line. It will be an SB I realise as I take my token from Don! Can’t speak. Watch and Strava look very good. Await the text. Damn!!! Just 1 second off being a perfect outcome. Oh well – Lyme Park next?
Anything or anyone missed – please add a comment.

Thanks Patrick.
Just to be clear John I was not the ‘elderly runner’ that Patrick referred to last time or this time! Having had a stinker of a cough and cold for 2 weeks it had been 4 weeks since I last did a ParkRun. Jan and I decided on South Manchester for my first run back and I was pleasantly surprised with my time. Also came first in my new MV75 age category, albeit I was the only one!
