Thursday Run – Kerridge Ridge

ursday 18th August 2016

A couple of weeks ago, to try and boost numbers, JP suggested we head for Macclesfield and run up to White Nancy and back along Kerridge Ridge. We couldn’t have picked a better evening, a warm 19 degrees,  sunny, clear views.  Boost numbers it certainly did.  I wish we had done it back in May!  I think next summer a monthly excursion is on the cards.

We ran this a couple of years ago, but I always felt the first two miles along the Silk Road a little uninspiring so I found an alternative route – up Rainow road to the Canal, along the Canal at far as Clarke Lane (bridge nr. 29 ) and then Oak Lane, Redway Lane, and on up to White Nancy, where our club photographer was waiting.  Thanks, Don – great photos !!

The run along Kerridge ridge seemed shorter than it should be, the views were magnificent.  Evenings like this are why we run.

We re-grouped at the end of the ridge, turned right and then left uphill along Carifold Lane until it’s junction with Cliff Lane, where JtV took the photo of us running off into the sunset.  From this point at approximately 6 mile, it was downhill for the last mile to the car park.

Great idea John Porteous and thank you to all that ran.
