N Cheshire 5k Grand Prix

The North Cheshire 5K Grand Prix Series ran two events last week, races 4 and 5 in the series.

Race 4 Dunham Massey 2  – 11th June

There were past doubts on the accuracy of the Dunham courses which Altrincham A C reckon they have rectified this year. Whether they have over compensated is a moot point, but Mark 2 was considered to be as quick a course as you can get. Surprisingly of the seven of those who ran both races six were slower, which could have been down to the hot conditions. This year the path that links the tarmacadam roads has been surfaced with stone which should make it quicker but comments were generally in favour of the previous surface.

Race 5 Hollins Green  – 13th June

Spectrum Striders' cavalier approach to health and safety came a cropper at last year’s event when the Local Authority stepped in with a large bill to make sure they conformed. We were told it was likely to be the last, but they have changed the course so that it conforms without the necessity of the added expense. For those who have run it before you run it in reverse, with the initial loop and run through the village omitted, and a new loop past Glazebrook railway station added.
