In case you were wondering, the Cracker did happen although for the second year running it was changed to the rather enchanting snowy 4.5 mile circuit of Tittesworth Reservoir.  The usual route over the Roaches being deemed not fit for pantomine cows or slow moving ballerinas.  Besides, apart from the wind chill factor, there was sheet ice across the farmyard on the way up there and under the snow on the road back from Roach End.  Slippy!

However, a determined Malcolm went one better than last year to beat the hordes of Santas, reindeer, and other dubious looking characters to win by 6 secs.  Simon in his debut "race" finished a credible 39th.  But, where was everyone else ??

  1. I’m beginning to think I should wear a Santa hat in every race. It’s the only time I win!
Some ridiculous fancy dress outfits, especially considering the temperature was -2C. Take a look at SpongeBob SquarePants on http://www.mickhall-photos.com Another club had all their runners dressed as sheep, together with a shepherd and sheepdog!
Surprised that more Wilmslow Runners didn’t compete in what is always an enjoyable race

  2. I was all geared up to go, until I saw on the Staffs Moorlands website that the Roaches route had been cancelled. So I thought it would be more beneficial to run a slippery 10 miles route from home rather than drive to Leek just to do a 4.5 mile race.
Happy Christmas to all. I’m not bringing holly this year – there are no berries on the tree at the moment.
