Buxton Carnival 5

Buxton Carnival 5, 17th July

Great race well organised with big crowds as it starts through the pedestrianised town centre just before the carnival floats go by. Lots of fancy dress and spiderman got his 30 seconds of glory, he was only good for 200m and I had to side step past as he pulled up looking for more super powers or maybe beer. Tony had said he had not run this race since he ran for Stretford! I soon found out why as we passed the 2 mile mark we were still going uphill (and into the wind).

The race finished in Upper Buxton (so we didn't even get as much downhill as up) by the fair, again to big cheering crowds. The race was won by one of my training partners from Stockport, Malcolm Johnson, by one second in a sprint finish with local legend Andy Wilton.

1 Malcolm Johnson 28.15
5 Stuart Parrott 29.28 3rd V45
