A bitterly cold 2 lapper in Richmond park but luckily a dry undulating course. A low key inter club event which Sally and I were representing our London club Hercules Wimbledon. The course was a fast interesting route of a small and large lap which mainly involved following red flags on the floor. This was easier said than done with my super human ability to go the wrong way and flags sometimes 2-300 yards apart. Luckily I avoided disaster! The race was good fun and a warm up to some serious high standard Surrey League XC coming up.

Sally had a cracking race splitting two HW men with a devastatingly sprint finish. She probably could have beaten the both of them, however she was reluctant to let go too much as she wasn’t confident about keeping her bodily functions under control. As usual we were getting ready to cycle home when the prizes were being handed out. A lovely silver trophy was revealed and the second place guy won it much to my confusion. Sally also missed out on an equally lovely trophy but it felt rude to complain in such a low key event and we didn’t have room in our rucksacks to carry them home anyway. To top it all off Sally’s bike pedal was loose all the way home and then then she was hit by an opening car door (NOT HER FAULT). Luckily Sally was fine with no damage to her or her bike but she did manage to damage the car by knocking its trim off, which in hind sight was quite comical.
