Summer Series, race 11
Sunday July 2nd.
What a difference a race makes. Race 10, Round the Reservoirs, there were 7 from League 4, but none from League 1. Lots of points, we filled our boots, whilst the Paul’s, Norris and Garnett, got their 15 minutes of fame.
Race 11, Andrew’s Alderley By-Pass 10k. Cheshire Grand Prix. And the picture is completely different. The Wilmslow established order re-asserted itself, but could not dominate, wait for race 12 for that, in a race which had attracted some special runners.
So we had Peter 9th., Richard Coen 12th, Barry, Jon 24th., Matt Braybrooke 36th., Diane 39th edging Trevor by 4 seconds., Dan Bundred 84th just 3 seconds in front of Richard Harrison , Tom 110th., Matt 129th., Andrew Given 146th.
Diane was 3rd lady, another indicator that this was a quality field. She was followed by Louisa just 6 seconds ahead of Janine.
Diane was 1st. F40, Andy 1st M65, Janine 1st.F45, Tony 1st.M70,
Trevor was 2nd. M55, Mick 2nd.M65, Simon 2nd.M70
Patrick was 3rd.M65, Nicky 3rd.F55, Ian 3rd.M70.
Graham Duce led-in League 2 from Andy, Paul Norris, Mick, Louisa, Janine beat Paul Garnett on the clock but not the chip, Diane, Richard and Tony.
Outstanding run for Patrick to take League 3 from Nicky, Sally Gilliver, Mark, a back to form Chris, Gail and John.
Colin made it 6 wins in 6 races in League 4. Rachael was, yet again, second. Simon has come good after 3 years when many in their 70s would have been tempted to throw-in the towel and Peter, now an over 75, who has been through a series of traumas, completed his first race of 2017. Jan, despite a dizzy attack, came in ahead of Ian. Then came Trevor and Martin.
