Summer Series after 10 races

well actually 11 should you be one of 5 who has already completed the four parkruns needed to start scoring points. Elspeth does a monthly progress update on the parkruns and Don has explained the scoring system on the website.

Tony increased the number of races to qualify for a mug to 8 this year. I had assumed that it would be 8 races to qualify and your best 8 to determine your position in the Main Table and your Ability League. Don is checking-out the feasibility of changing the table to best 8, at present it remains best 7. Suggest you plan on 8, even if it turns out to be 7.

The T-shirt remains at 13 races. I’m assuming the requirement, as in previous years, is a minimum of 6 on-road and 6 off-road, but I’ll check that out.

Finally, I think the conclusion on ‘Bluebell’ Sunday was that Halifax would take precedence with the winner at Chorley (Diane) being treated as finishing behind the final runner at Halifax (Trevor). This, unaccustomed, finishing order has been implemented in the Main Table but not, so far, in the Ability Leagues.

so, based upon best 7:-

Matt leads the Main Table from Mark then come Gail, Ian and Julie.

Jarrod heads those who have done 6 races, ahead of Tim and the two Pauls.

Di leads those who have run 5 followed by Ian Smallwood and Di Bygrave.

Jeremy heads Tom, Louisa and Janine of those on 4.

Gail is the leading lady followed by Julie, Sally Price and Nicky.

League 1 reads Matt, Jarrod, Tim then Diane.

League 2 is Tony, Paul Garnett, Paul Norris and Ian.

League 3 has Mark ahead of Gail, Sally Price and Nicky.

League 4 has Ian edging Julie then Trevor but Colin, in fourth, has 5 races, 5 wins.

The leagues, at this stage, give the enthusiasts a few moments in the spotlight, knowing their glory will fade with the peleton closing, as race by race, more complete their 7, or is it 8, races.
