Second race James (10) running full mile in U13’s club runners race ran tactical race to pick up bronze medal in 9′ 27"
Veterans race i decided to go off fast for a change and had dropped the field by half way, next the steep bit lots of cheering got me past the pub then my legs disowned me , the early pace was now telling and the pain kicked in, the final 200M seemed to go on and on.
Result victory by quite a margin in 7′ 27" over 30sec quicker than last year ,hill reps on the edge over winter pays dividends.
Tony did tell me a couple of years ago if i kept working at it one day i might win something. All i had to do was find a race for veterans only , uphill and on tarmac.(and hope the bash didn’t show ,and malc distracted by hot pot)

If they ever tweak it to be gentle downhill, off road and about 15 miles longer – I’ll be up for the challenge…
