UK Cross Challenge Incorporating Euro Trials Aka Stuart and James in Sutton Park (tis the season for mud).
With Mo Farrah, defending euro champ, dropping out of team to concentrate on Beijing preparations an extra place was up for grabs (top five) at this qualifing event, but even with my trademark fast start I never challenged the top 100. Good venue to spectate with multi laps winding back and fro through the park and the rain stayed away.
This race ran together with SE Lancs and Mid Lancs leagues with combined services thrown in for good measure. Mens race 9.8 K, 1st Pete Riley 30:18, 178th Stuart Parrott 38:16. 419 ran. Just to note – the mens winners at Heaton Park and Boggart were 86th and 70th. James came a creditable 64th in the under 13s race.
