End-to-End Day 7

I got last night's post slightly wrong, they were actually at Port Appin, which is well North of Oban, and in a spectacularly remote part of the Scottish West coast facing onto the Sound of Mull.  Today was also very successful, with a fantastic ride by Loch Ness.  They had rain turning to hail in the morning, but the weather cleared up in the afternoon as they wound North, traversing a stretch of road to equal Mow Cop – around 18% average gradient up-hill for a mile.  This was followed by a 6 mile sweeping descent, with good surfaces and good visibility, allowing them to make up some time and rest weary legs.

They arrived in Dingwall, but found that a local event had caused the town to be fully booked, and so pressed on to reach Alness, close to Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth, a distance of 112 miles.

The team are in good spirits, with some niggles (mostly concerning contact with the saddle), but nothing major to stop them reaching John O'Groats tomorrow, a mere 100 miles.  They are so confident they have booked the night in the hotel, and only have to roll over the formal 'finish line' and carry on for a mile or so to complete the journey.
