End-to-End The Finish

A slightly delayed posting because of the lack of mobile phone signal at John O'Groats!  The last day was also the toughest, with 5 hours of continuous rain and a strong headwind.  The A99, the final road before John O'Groats, is also quite hilly, with several 10 degree climbs lasting over a mile.  Consequently the team were cycling flat out but only averaging 12 mph, well down on previous days.  They arrived in good shape at 7:45pm on Saturday 29th, and then raced to the hotel for a quick change in order to get to the restaurant before 'last orders' at 8:30!

They took 'crossing the line' photos today, and then set off South again for the last leg of the trip to Inverness airport.  This time, travelling South, the wind is with them, and they are averaging 22 mph.  They will take it relatively easy in order to get to Inverness for the 5pm flight on Tuesday, and might just make Manchester in time for Tuesday training (hill reps!).

Congratulations to the team of Paul Sanders, Paul Ayres and Malcolm Fowler.  To record a message/comment just click on the 'comments' link under this article.
