This weekend it has been cold and icy – but still 21 club members turned out to run at 6 parkrun events. Some may have been saving themselves for the Yule Romp Sunday. But that ended up being cancelled because of the weather.
Only PaulG braved the cold and hills at a scenic Woodbank. Similarly at Cheadle, where a fair few runners chose husky trudge through snow experience, Richard came home first; only 20 seconds slower that his last run here 14 months ago.
At Didsbury Graham trotted the course. Leaving his Missus to concentrate on finishing first lady with a PB by 3 and a half minutes on her 350th Parkrun!!!
Most runners ran at the three remaining Parkruns:
There were four at Burnage. Two locals from Bramhall. Paul and Janine who returned to run here after a six-and-a-half-year absence. The Gentlemen Elite club turned up. No doubt for a sheltered run and breakfast.
At Alderley Sharon and Tim chose to volunteer. Richard skipped through he woods to finish 6th and only a few seconds off a PB. Sue, Steve and Don ran too. Oliver chose a slower pace this week. Rumour was that a mystery girl was out too!
The most cub members out running on Saturday were at Wilmslow. Andy and Rebecca helping. Jim pipped James by a few seconds as they finished 4th and 6th.Dave and Rebecca may have been pacing they were close to 22 minutes. Not far behind then was Graham. Andrew and IanS followed. The Jackson’s taking it easy. Nicky is after volunteers for pacing in January [7th]
I have to admit. Having decided on Friday I wouldn’t clean my windscreen again Saturday. I’d do Wilmslow. But taking the dog out at 6:45 for her constitutionals and seeing the snow on the ground and still falling. Even I wasn’t that mad to run and risk a fall!
Summary
- Busiest: [176]; Quietest: Cheadle[76]
- Tourists: Nobody

Thanks Patrick. Paul G was at Woodbank Park, not Bramhall.
The snow was falling as I drove to Burnage and it was cold. I was expecting to find the run cancelled, but there were plenty of runners braving the elements. Ian and I found the conditions underfoot challenging, especially on the bends, hence our slower times. Paul, Janine and I were all first in our age categories, but Ian was only 2nd out of 3 MV75’s who turned out despite the weather!
