We may have said goodbye to the Bollington Nostalgia this year but there is another opportunity to run around Bollington this year.
This year it’s Bollington Harriers inaugural Happy Valley Trail Half Marathon race on Sunday 15th May 2022 . 9:00am from the Aldephi Mill, Grimshaw Lane.
The Happy Valley Trail Half Marathon is a new trail running event in the hills and valleys surrounding Bollington, taking place on Sunday 15 May. With a total of 770m of ascent, the challenging route starts and finishes in Bollington and includes an ascent of White Nancy, Kerridge Ridge and Sponds Hill.
It begins with an immediate ascent up to Kerridge Ridge from Adelphi Mill, kick-starting an undulating half marathon over varied terrain and with some gorgeous views included.
After making your way over to Harrop Woods, you’ll need all of your grit and determination to climb all the way up to the wilds of Sponds Hill, before enjoying a pleasant downward trip over Bakestonedale Moor to a welcome aid station at the road.
Bollington soon comes back in to view as you head south, but don’t be deceived! The descent back in to the Happy Valley has one more little surprise in store as you make a sharp ascent upwards to visit the beloved White Nancy, following which it’s a quick trip past the quarries and to race HQ.
The route will be fully marked and marshalled, but copies of the route will also be provided. One aid station will be available on the route.
Why not run it and enjoy the scenery and the challenge.
All finishers will receive a bespoke wooden medal and refreshments
