Beat the Bounds Virtually

We have done this charity walk [well we actually ran! :)] a couple of times.  Now with lockdown it can’t go on as normal this year.

Ned Spencer’s recent email is published here to stimulate and encourage you [if interested]:

Hello – keep smiling through!

Let’s get some fresh air and exercise and raise money for our local hospice!

This year – for obvious reasons – we can’t hold our annual sponsored walk for ECH – Beating the Bounds

But we can do it virtually – enjoy our beautiful local scenery and raise money for our local hospice

And we can extend it out from Wilmslow to – Poynton, Handforth, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Bollington, Alderley ……

It is great that people are responding to the current crisis by fund raising for charities

But let’s not forget our local hospice that needs our support “now more than ever”

If you didn’t watch the BBC News last night – please see : https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-52447451/coronavirus-the-hospice-staff-working-through-a-pandemic

My idea is simple :-

To take part you just need to go out for a walk and make a donation to ECH and/or raise some sponsorship!!

Please send me an e-mail to let me know you’re doing it so I can keep you updated on our progress

If you would like to take part – I suggest we all try to do our walk in the first two weeks of May – but we won’t stop you doing it later!

Escape the lockdown for an hour or so!

The 15 mile BtB route covers the Wilmslow Parish Boundary – maybe you could walk some of this route?

I can help you with ideas for walks – just let me know roughly where you live and how far you’d like to walk

If you don’t live in Wilmslow – maybe you could walk part of the Parish Boundary where you live?

I have set up a Just Giving page – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/virtual-walk-babotb

You can use this page to make your donation and also upload a story about your walk and a few photographs

I’m sure I don’t need to remind you that you should do your walk in accordance with Government Covid guidelines

We all need to stay safe and do what we can to help others

I hope you think this is a good idea and will join in to make it a success

Thanks

Ned

UPDATE

We are lucky to have beautiful scenery on our doorstep!

I have had a good response from people so far – thank you! It is a simple idea:

Go for a local walk – conforming to the guidelines!

Dedicate your walk to our local hospice

Make a donation via our Just Giving page

Sadly we can’t all walk together this year – but it does mean we can explore other walking routes. I am particularly keen to work out other local parish boundary routes

Here is link showing A Edge route https://dimountaineering.evims.uk/btb/

Here is a link showing Macc route https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/r…/4852618/Macc-Boundary

If you have other ideas for walks or if you need any help with above please let me know. Don’t forget to make your ECH donation via our Just Giving page
