Nick Bishop, kindly was the first of our members to respond to my plea for input on your favourite/best from Club Members.
Thank you.
Nick:
My favourite was done in Switzerland circa 2004.
Just myself and Tony Hulme ran it.
We had a few days in Switzerland with the race being the plan.
Beautiful surrounds and a great atmosphere…A perfect introduction to mountain running, and within the capabilities of all.
At the time I was a V45 and running circa 77/78 mins for a HM. This one took me around 2.10 …Over 50 minutes slower.
It’s fairly undulating with the finish being higher than the start. Amazing paths and trails that take you along the Aletsch Glacier as you climb to the top. The hardest bit is the last mile…It gets steeper and the paths become scree like.
I had a fall early in the race but that goes with the territory.
As to my performance? Tony said “You did all right there…Not great but all rig”!
Certainly, one to consider for the club…I will stand ringing the cowbells!

Next provisional date for the race: 19/20 June 2021
Even someone local ran it last year
Ok you lot out there – send me yours. If you think you don’t have enough time to write it up.. Just do a bit each day and take a few days. Thank you.
Looks amazing Nick
