Summer Series parkrun – End of May 2017 Report

Elspeth writes…

As we start to head for the halfway point of the competition we now have a total of 64 members who have now joined the parkrun competition with 33 runners completing at least one course and 12 runners completing two of the following qualifying courses: Congleton, Bramhall, Wythenshawe, Wilmslow, Burnage, South Manchester, Stretford and Lyme Park.

This month we have five people who have completed three courses and must now run Lyme Park to qualify for points on the main table, they are Carolyn Hirons, Andy Whittingham, Rob Wilson, Alan Turner, and Richard Hirons.

We also have another six members who have run four courses but they have not yet completed the compulsory course at Lyme Park, so Jarrod Homer, Patrick Grannan, John Porteous, Sharon Jones, Chris Cannon and Andrew Given still need to head to Lyme Park for qualification.

Jan Wyles joins Catherine Mellor on five different courses completed, and Trevor Morris extends this to seven courses but they are all still to qualify as none of them have tackled Lyme Park yet.

We have another two qualifiers this month, both Nicky Mowat and Ian Ashcroft have completed Lyme Park plus another three courses to join the ‘elite’ group of five current qualifiers. Tony remains the only qualifier to have completed all 8 courses in the competition, so the parkrun table is as follows:

Tony Hulme:                   8 Courses : Total Time 3hrs 5m 44s

Mark Crossland :           6 Courses : Total Time 1hr 58m 43s

Ian Ashcroft:                   5 Courses : Total Time 2hrs 12m 46s

Matt Taylor :                   4 Courses : Total Time 1 hr 20m 52s

Nicky Mowat:                  4 Courses : Total Time 1 hr 36m 30s

Congratulations this month go to Tony Hulme for reaching his 100th parkrun, and Rob Jackson for attaining 50 parkruns. Notable parkrun performances this month must include the double ‘Di’ whammy at Wilmslow on the 13th May, when rather than being ‘chicked’ many runners were ‘Di’ed’ as McVey came 1st Lady and Bygrave 2nd. Sharon Johnstone and Louisa Harrison not to be outdone tried the same trick the week after too. Well done Ladies!

Happy June parkrunning!
