Injury update

Jim Pendrill

As pointed out in Rob’s notice of the piano recital at St Bartholomew’s on the 9th October, Jim has been out with an Achilles tendinopathy injury for the past six months. He has recently been put on a rehab programme by  the physio which hopefully will get the problem sorted out once and for all and enable him to return to training in the New Year. Jim has channelled his energies into cycling and recently did a 100 mile sportive in the Peak District.

Sue Strang

Sue has been struggling for a long time with an arthritic big toe joint and bone spurs which have caused Planta in the foot. She is scheduled to have an operation on the 4th October to insert a synthetic cartilage implant and also have the bone spurs removed. The synthetic cartilage implant is recent revolutionary technology which can be applied to knees and hands as well as feet. Complete healing should take ten weeks and weight bearing is possible from the outset – but no driving for four weeks.

Tim Billington

The injury du jour is definitely a calf strain – both Nicky and I have been side lined with one recently. Coupled with sciatica, Tim has gone that extra malady but he hopes to be back on the rep sessions next Tuesday.

Peter Bream

The anti-inflammatories prescribed by the doctor have made no impression on Pete’s knee injury so he is about to start a course of physiotherapy in the hope of clearing the problem.
