Summer Series after 14 Races

Well that’s it then. Sharon, Matt and Tom have kept the top spot warm but with his seventh race, in one bound, Damian has leapt into the lead. The only surprising thing is that he has won ‘only’ 6 of his 7 races.

Roy, Simon and I were dismayed at Tim’s slow-mo video. We’re unlikely to be mistaken for Usain Bolt at normal speed, but this was adding insult to injury and surely there can’t only have been those two girls from Bramhall behind us?

Tom and Matt stay on the podium but Sharon gets nudged off.

Rest of the top 10 ; Jarrod, Tim, Steve, Janine, Christian and Diane.

Chris reported at the AGM that 61 had completed the 7 races to qualify for the Series in both 2015 and 2014, 36 so far this year. The number completing 12 races and collecting the running shirt was, in both those years, 37. None so far this year but one or more of Tom, Matt, Bernard and Ian might make it at the Forest 5. (Am I correct in remembering the Forest 5 is nearer 6?)

Those who have run six races are led by Richard, Sally and Mark.

Top of the five-race runners are Vinny, Amy and John

Cream on the top of the four-race runners; Andrew (T-shirts from the by-pass feel real quality), Mike and Allan.

Ladies:              Unchanged. Sharon (6 wins) leads Janine (3), with Diane (4) third.

 League 1:        Damian (6), Tom, Sharon (1).

League 2:         Unchanged. Matt now has 9 wins, Jarrod 2 and Tim 1.

League 3:         Unchanged. Gareth now has 7 wins, Bernard 4 and Tony 2.

League 4:         James moves to the top with his 7th. win in 7 races. Angela (3 wins) and Sally (also 3), tie for second.

League 5:         Long time leader Trevor is not only deposed but off the podium. Don (1) was swept to the top at Bollington, where he joins Elspeth and Julie who also each have 1 win. With Jan and Cat both on 4 wins and Leanne, on 3, the podium could be in for a another shake-up.

League X:         Unchanged. Pete has 3 wins. Mark is second above Vinny, who now has 4 wins.

With the creation of League X, it is probable that, at the end of this year’s Series, we will consolidate the ability leagues down from 5 to 4 for 2017. You need therefore to carefully watch the Main Table for, were the decision to be to go down to 4 ‘ability’ leagues, then your position in it, as well your standing in your ability league, will be an important determinant as to your league in 2017. (the July newsletter gave an example of how next year’s leagues might look but the people will clearly change as the season progresses)

The 2016 Rules are on the website, reminders:-

  • 7 races to qualify.
  • 12 races (at least 5 on and 5 off road) for the running shirt.
  • bonus points for park runs.
  • bonus points for long races.
