Boar’s Head

Summer Series, race 10

Wednesday June 8th.

Difficult to get a good feel for the race and the condition when you are not running, so please help me out with comments below on your race. I am also lacking feedback with the exception of Gail and she confined herself to one word; ‘rubbish’. Hopefully others gained more satisfaction. It was warm, dry and largely wind-free on a good, if sometimes challenging, course so everything was set-up for some strong performances. Midweek races close to home always attract a good turn-out so plenty of motivation from competition within the club even if Series points were can be in less plentiful supply, though they were far from bad.

Stuart Parrott 16th., a wonderful sight to behold after all the years of what looked liked a terminal injury, and he was 1st. M50. Mike, 26th., was 2nd. M50. Tom was one position behind and 2nd.M60. Vinny was 31st., Allan 37th. and Brian 38th.

Diane was our first lady and the race’s 1st.L40, next came Louisa who loves this course, then Sharon, Amy and Nicky.

Adam, came back with a bang and took first place in League 2. Next was Jarrod, then Steve followed by Diane, Louisa, just 3 seconds ahead of Richard, with Pete only 7 seconds further back. Then Tim and Andy.

League 3 went to Bernard. Amy, who seems, every race, to move up the order, was second only seconds ahead of Nicky, then came Mark and Alan. Good to see Tony back after injury, he led-in Huma, Geoff and John.

Angela, who is running really well this year again won League 4. Carolyn’s done few races since London, Rachael again showed remarkable recovery from her marathon, child-birth. Gail’s not back to form since her injury but is running better than she gives herself credit for. Clare’s great going uphill but a disaster coming down. Simon has a month without running then takes two M70 prizes in a week.

Julie was the League 5 winner from Don and Trevor.

  1. Actually I was a disaster going up as well as down at this one Ian. Found it harder than the Buxton Half the previous week and possibly more of an achievement in finishing it: upright and not last. Bring on Bosley Fete!
