April parkrun report from Elspeth

The current 2016 parkrun competition has now been running for 12 weeks. During this time participation in any of the following parkruns has been counted:-

* Bramhall

* Burnage

* Cheadle Hulme

* Congleton

* Lyme Park

* South Manchester

* Stretford

* Wythenshawe

Originally it was intended for the Wilmslow parkrun Summer Course to be the 9th parkrun included within the competition, however we have been notified that the Winter Course will now continue throughout the year. Therefore it has been decided that the current Wilmslow parkrun course will count towards the competition for all recorded runs from 1ST May 2016.

To gain entry onto the Main Summer Series tables for the parkrun competition, runners must complete Lyme Park parkrun plus 3 other courses from the list. 1 bonus point is awarded for running any of the remaining courses with an extra 2 bonus points if all 9 parkrun courses are completed.

36 runners have now entered the parkrun competition. Of that 24 have only completed one course and 8 have completed 2 courses. Steve Bunker and Geoff Gilbert have completed 3 courses each. Steve must now complete Lyme Park for qualification onto the main table whereas Geoff has already tackled Lyme Park so has more to choose from for his 4th course.

Chris Cannon has run at 5 courses and like Steve still needs to head for Lyme Park to gain entry onto the tables.

The only runner so far to qualify for the main table is Tony Hulme who has completed Lyme Park, with his fastest times at Congleton, Stretford and South Manchester making up his 3 other courses. Not content with that he has also gained 2 Bonus points for Burnage and Wythenshawe – Well Done Tony!

Hopefully with some improved weather in May we may see more entries on all courses. Bramhall and Congleton have remained popular but Wythenshawe saw very few Wilmslow runners in April and only Ian ‘#Birdman’ Ashcroft turned up at Burnage.
