parkrun “Summer Series” update
Saturday 3rd October
Not surprisingly those running on Sunday gave the park runs a miss this week, still we had a few runners out at the various runs up and down the country.
Julie and Steve made their usual trip to Lyme Park, both had good runs but couldn’t improve on their best times to date. Likewise Christian, our only runner at South Manchester was 15 seconds outside his best time.
We had 7 runners out at Congleton, a very gloomy damp morning didn’t help any. Jarrod thought he had run well but was 10 seconds outside his best time, I started slowly but legs felt a little better so pushed on in the last two laps. Alan seems to be running better but like me, his good times were earlier in the year. Doddy had told me he was there to chaperone Soraya round on her first ever parkrun, don’t know whether he thought she was right behind him because he managed to finish nearly a minute ahead. Soraya clocked 25.37, puts her onto the table just ahead of Sarah.
The only improvement on the day was Carolyn, a determined effort to get round in sub 25 mins worked, 24.54 and pushes her up the table 4 places to above Simon. Steve encouraged her round but refused to let a 10 year old pass him on the line. Such is his competitive edge.
Parkrun “Age Graded Comp” Wilmslow
A good turnout at Wilmslow, however not sure if Nick Jackson was taking it seriously or just saving his energy for the half marathon. Graham managed to finish third with a percentage score of 71.33% (20.21), Tony had another good run and is currently heir to the throne with a 76.95% score (22.25).
Gavin 64.74% (25.54) and Roy 55.07% (30.45) both ran this tough course well.
Nick, I did spot you were running with your son.
