The final race, trophies and individual medals to be won…The decider.

A bitter day, scattered showers and a cutting wind…Not for the faint hearted.

Full results can be found at http://www.race-results.co.uk/results/2014/maccl135.htm

I feel sure that those that ran can fill in the gaps better than me in terms of todays race, but the key information…

Di leads the ladies team home to Team Gold in both Senior and Vet categories.

Peter is first home for the men who finish fourth and grab 1st in the Vet categories.

Everyone that ran deserves a big pat on the back…A tough race today.

  1. Well done especially to Di, the Ladies Senior team and both Vets teams.
Once again, Wilmslow scored three firsts out of four team series championships in the MACCL.
The Male Vets Team series prize was won with the closest of margins. In today’s race, Wilmslow and Salford both scored 36 points. We were probably awarded today’s win by eliminating the fourth counters. This gave Wilmslow and Salford both 38 points overall, from the best of four races. We were awarded the overall series win because we did better than Salford in the respective fifth races.
This means that Wilmslow Male Vets have won every one of the eight series since the MACCL was formed, but it was damn close this year. Wilmslow Ladies Vets have been first for the last four years, and the Ladies Seniors have been first for three of the last four years.
These are fantastic results, which show enormous team and coaching support, consistency and dedication to overcome challenging conditions, such as occurred today. Everyone involved should feel really pleased. The only fly in the ointment today was the terrible result at Liverpool!

  2. The cross country yesterday was indeed character building. Congratulations to our winners and to all who took part. Big thanks too for the support around the course and to those who put up and took down the tents. Really challenging conditions to say the least!
And so to lost property … I have a red and black medium size nike jacket, a pair of asics black running tights and Phil’s Wilmslow race vest. I’ll bring them to the club on Tuesday night. I’ve not found Jeremy’s gloves yet but will look again inside the tents…

  4. A number of people have contacted me in the last 24 hours from within the club becuase as Trevor points out the results were very close. It should be remembered that these are provisional results. When the officials are officating for seven different races on a cold day, the odd blip will occasionally occur.Only when any anomalies to individual results are calculated, do the results become official. The presentations have to take place with the information available at the time. That said it is not often that team results are effected.
I have checked all the information and it stacks up.
To clarify, the way the results were decided:
In the event of a tie, where one of the teams has completed five races and the other four, the team with five races wins(Both teams completed five). We then move to the next decider : looking at each race, the team whose last runner is closest to the winner determines the winning team.
We won that three to two ! Our three…Barry, Tom and Andrew.
    Well done all.
    Nick.

  5. All results confirmed as official with inclusion of amendments as necessary : Phil Matthews now included for WRC.
