Coombes Tor cancelled

This year' Coombes Tor race (part of our Summer Series) has been cancelled.  So if you were planning to pre-enter, don't!  Further info on refunds for early entries, and possible substitute Summer Series races, is awaited.

STOP PRESS – the replacement race will be Shelf Moor (again) on Sunday 1st Sept, start 11.00 am.  Not everyone's favourite race last year, but there isn't much choice around this time of year without travelling a distance.  Further, if we went for a later race it would leave a 5-week break until Sutton 10K, and then it becomes congested.

  1. Given that Shelf Moor was the club’s least popular race in 2013, could consideration be given to either a reduction from 5 to 4 off-road races to qualify for the t-shirt or an additional off-road race between now and the end of the Series in late November? ian

  2. Sorry, meant 2012, its my horror at the thought of ploughing through deep mud in thick mist again.

  3. I actually quite enjoyed it, and in profile it looks similar to what Coombes Tor might of been…..
I’m sure it will be nice and sunny this time so great views, promise.

  4. Tony is trying to find an extra off-road race in addition to Shelf Moor so we will have a choice

  5. There is the Padfield Plum Fair Scamper on the same day as the cancelled Coombes Tor ie 8 September. It’s slightly shorter and 500ft less of climb than Coombes Tor so should suit those who don’t like the climbs.

  6. Also on the same day as was Coombes Torr there is the one advertised on a flyer left on my car today which I passed to Tony.. Trail Race in Walkden !!! Sounds nice perfect to me ;))
