Gail’s Charity Disco

Raised £2,338 – Thank You

There are so many things that I wished I had said during my speech on Friday night, but the nerves and fear of the microphone put paid to that….. I would like to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you for your support with what turned out to be a great night that I honestly will never forget. I haven’t laughed as much for a quite some time, to the point where I remember thinking I am going to have to stop smiling as my face was really hurting!! This actual party was created on a run the morning after the Christmas Party, 4 running buddies and I chatting about how we could raise as much money as possible, the organisation began and who would have thought we would have ended up raising such a whopping amount of £2338 – certainly not me!

I can’t take all the credit for the night and wouldn’t wish too, as without the help of my ‘committee’ of Janine, Doddy, Sharon and Soraya this party would not have been as successful as it turned out to be, so thank you ALL from the bottom of my heart for your help, I have to also thank Soraya for the fabulous room decorations, it really was very glam!

For those of you that unfortunately missed this event, it was a fun packed night starting with the brilliant quiz, masterminded by Andy Dodd, who took to the stage like a duck to water, a complete natural – the Guess the Runner picture quiz baffled many people, some not even guessing themselves. Roys Rascals winning on a tie-break question and receiving the prize of Guess the Runner t-shirts!   The raffle was a huge success with a table filled with over 30 wonderful prizes donated by some extremely generous people and local shops. The bucket was filled to the brim with an array of multi-coloured tickets and a room full of hopeful faces staring at me as I pulled out the tickets, scary process 🙂 many happy winners though!!  The ‘Head or Tails’ game was a huge success too, very very funny with 60 people taking to the dance floor in the hope of winning the massive Jackpot Prize of £250 kindly donated by Cat and Mike. Mike compered the game and Janine his assistant flipped the coin, with process of elimination, mad dashes across the dance floor, Gareth and Alan were the last two left standing, it was to be Gareth's very lucky night, he pocketed the money (well actually I think Elspeth may be spending it for him) and poor Alan walked off with nothing – sorry mate!    So then the dancing began, and lets please not forget the Dodd v Bygrave dance-off, £50 raised in 2/3 mins flat by Diane, Jeremy’s wife – the condition that the two men danced to the whole track of a Rihanna song – I have to say there were some cracking moves being staged – fantastic entertainment – thank you very much!!!!!!!

All that is left to say to everyone is THANK YOU. I never would have dreamed of raising such an amount, I am deeply touched and extremely proud. My family are also extremely pleased too! Joshua’s Christening was beautiful today, very intimate. He is 1 year old next Wednesday which for us is another big milestone.

FINALLY

James Eyre – You are the proud owner of the Framed Wayne Rooney Signed Shirt, generously donated by Soraya and Ged Mason which was auctioned last week by silent bids. Your bid of £200 was the highest – Congratulations 🙂

Now all I have to do is RUN THE RUN – only 6 weeks today!!

This massive amount raised for Epilepsy Action will honestly make a huge difference to Joshua and others alike.

Love Gail x (THANKS FOR A FAB NIGHT)

  1. Thanks to Gail and ‘the committee’ for putting on such a great evening of entertainment. It must have taken a lot of behind the scenes hard work to pull that off with such style. We certainly appreciated it and really enjoyed ourselves as well as raising such an amazing amount for Joshua’s charity. Are you now available for weddings, birthdays, bah mitzvahs….??

  2. Agree with Clare – well done team! Well organised, good company and a worthy cause. You will do great on the marathon Gail x
