CHRISTLETON 5K

 FRIDAY 6TH MAY 2011

A very humid evening in the village of Christleton, no thunder storms in sight & a few hardy Wilmslow runners. I know many of you have competed here before but for Matt, Jane & I it was a first. It is billed as flat & fast – it did not disappoint. After a few logistical issues with Matt’s sat nav sending him no where near my house & Jane misreading the map for Martin we were there. It’s a fair walk to the registration & another one to the start, once there they were keen to keep us off the roads as we know from Whitely being cancelled, Cheshire Council are trying to stop road races. We were walked to the start but without warning the claxon sounded & we were off, Graham said he had to almost leapfrog a chap who had innocently bent down to tie his laces. I didn’t see anyone until the end of the 2 laps but everyone seemed pleased with their first 5K of the year. Matt has struggled since illness at the start of the year & Jane is still struggling with sciatic pain. Graham commented on being 1 whole second slower than last year. The winner broke the course record & it was definitely a quality field. Not a Masters event for a change!
