A good race as usual but freezing conditions meant slippery surfaces most of the way round, particularly in Woodbank Park, on pavements, and on the quiet residential roads – hence the slightly slower but still very respectable times!

Extensive black ice on the backstreets made it really quite dangerous and it was something to just get round. Sharon and Nicky both won prizes as 6th and 8th overall (remind me on Tuesday). Ahead of them an excellent win for Olivia Walwyn in under an hour. Despite the conditions Stockport’s Frank Reilly won the V65 in an amazing 63.45 which takes him to the top of the rankings. It was also the first time I’ve seen Ken Burgess walk away without a prize.
