Progress report after Day One!
The trip to Cornwall was uneventful and the intrepid trio set off this morning to face 115 miles from Lands End to Dartmoor.
They were met by Stephen Feber around Redruth, and he managed to guide them in a region apparently devoid of useful signposts. These pictures were taken by Stephen.
The first day's riding was very hard, with 'no flat bits anywhere – either up or down, nothing in between'. They had some mechanical problems when Paul (A) snapped a gear cable. Fortunately Malcolm was able to go on ahead and scout out the territory, and found a bike shop. After some bike-fettling and a bit of advice on routes they pressed on.
They spent the first night at Moretonhampstead. not far from Exeter on the edge of Dartmoor.
Tomorrow will be a challenge – sitting on the bike again will be an act of will-power! Watch this space for updates.
