Trimpell 20 Mile – 14th March
On a weekend where the marathon runners were spoilt for choice with at least 4 20+ mile races, four of us tried our luck up the M6 at the Lancaster venue. On a bright but breezy day, we joined the other 383 runners at the start and set off on a very runner friendly and generally flat course.
The race is 95% run on local cycle routes, pathways and leisure centre pathways. For those who like their views there were plenty of opportunities to view the castle, the river Lune and the hills. Whilst not as picturesque as Grindleford, it was certainly a lot less hilly than the Spen 20. The times reflected this and provided a useful pointer to what to expect at London (I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions). On a slightly sad note, Paul suffered a foot injury and failed to complete.
