Sale 10 and a slice of Pie & Peas

Rod’s on a mission; Moonraker Sunday, training Tuesday, Tony’s Langley Adventure Thursday and the Sale 10 on Sunday. An attempt perhaps to return to past glories after years of injuries and corporate dining. Perhaps though preparation for ‘his’ race – Pie & Peas. Not the running itself but his après-race performance has been matched only by Nick. My personal recommendation to anyone doing the race for the first time is to go for the beans rather than the peas and I also find the cheese and onion more digestible than the meat and potato.

Stuart, Simon and I were, I think, on a different mission; three old men trying to produce flattering times on a course that’s as flat as a pancake. This is probably not fair on Stuart who is not that old, particularly in this company. Well it worked. We all did good times but, more impressively, in a quality field we were all near the top of our categories.

Critics will say the course is not scenic, 4 laps in Wythenshawe, but my experience of scenic is that you have to get up the hills to get the benefit of the view and I can’t get up the hills and Si can’t get down them.
