Summer Series Race 5 – Bowdon 5k

We’ve been trying to sort two queries but they remain unresolved. There is no Jamie but two Rob Downs in the results, there is an obvious answer but can anyone (Jamie?) confirm? Carla is also missing and unsure whether she was in front or behind Roy. Whilst Roy must be congratulated on an excellent run, I think I know which outcome we’ll be hoping for. I’ve asked the organisers to investigate, but could anyone able to shed light on either issue use ‘comments’ at the bottom.

Great location, great weather, fast course. Bowdon was what it always is; great for times, dire for points. Don has already declared a new record Summer Series turn-out; probably 45 Wilmslow finishers.

Damian broke his own club record.  Rob beat his own M>40 and M>45 records. Mick took Tony’s M>60 record and Nicky her own L>50 record. Don’s included PBs on the results list, anyone else please use ‘comments’.

But if you’d got Bowdon down as one of your races to count in your overall score you had better get your diary out and find another race. Charlotte, despite running the race with not a trace of alcohol in her system, registered a new all-time low of 7 points – Martin, where were you when you were needed?

Leadership of the main table will, for another month, continue to reflect commitment and enthusiasm and then slowly, through the late summer and autumn, Group 1 will work their way to the top. Damian has now eased ahead of Nina and Stuart and into the top 30, he may climb further.

Tony leads, Don second, Kate third. Trevor is the fourth runner to have run all five races. Rob Gilbert leads those who have run four followed by Steve Smith and Ian Ashcroft.

Kate, she took 30 seconds off her 5k PB, leads the ladies, Angela stays second, does a midge bite really count as an injury that would affect your performance? Penny moves up to third and Sarah Miles to fourth.

Group 3/4 reflects the main table with Tony, Don and Kate as the 1,2,3.

There was talk of Rob being re-graded as Group 2, if not, it is four wins out of four.

Group 5/6 is always the most competitive; five races, four different winners. Christine has run better and better every week since she joined the club, this was an impressive and ultimately comfortable win. Trevor continues to head the group followed by Ian, Angela and Penny.
