Good running by everyone – but shambolic start causes carnage denying an even better result for the men.
Men finished > 7th overall / 1st vets
Ladies finished > 4th overall / 2nd vets.

Malcolm explains …….
Start was rather shambolic. It would be easy to blame the organisers but I think a lot of the problem was that there were just too many slow runners lined up near the front and with faster runners trying to get past slower runners I saw at least 4 runners go down.
My problem was a recurrence of the sciatica I suffered from last Tuesday. After only 200 metres I was getting shooting pains down my left leg and knew it was a lost cause and pulled out. I'm now very doubtful for next weeks cross country unless Wayne Fish can cure me!
I wasn't the first Wilmslow runner to drop out though. Poor Damian was one of the fallers in the first few metres and then got trampled by following runners before he could get up!
I was asked at the start what my targrt time was and then let the sub 25 minute man stand in front of me , problem was he was then still only on row 5 of the starting grid. The first 20 metres i lept over two fallen runners as i was looking down rather than forwards.Maybe time markers at the side of the road would be usefull as used at Wilmslow Half.
