FORTHCOMING EVENTS

There seemed to be some problems with the email sent this morning in terms of receipt by many :

Here is the narrative :

Congratulations to all that raced yesterday and thanks to those who doubtless gave their invaluable support.

Some excellent individual performances.

We have a busy few weeks ahead and conscious that we all have our own busy lives to lead and other commitments to schedule a note of what’s coming up:

Saturday 24th January: Northern XC Champs at Sherdley Park, St Helens

I may not be there and some ideas of those wanting to run would be good. Teams are entered.

Sunday 1st February: Alsager 5: Cheshire GP race

Saturday 7th February: Final Manchester XC Race @ Wythenshawe Pk

All manner of trophies and individual honours to be decided. We are anticipating a big Wilmslow turn out both racing and supporting .Directly after the men’s race is the inaugural Manchester League Hot Pot presentation in the Hall. All 150 places have now gone but we have 25 held for WRC runners: I am presuming that all that run and spectators will want a ticket. Should be a great event. Tickets are heavily subsidized @ £2.00 per head or £4.00 for two helpings! Subsidized heavily by sponsorship. Also licensed bar and tea/coffee etc.

Saturday 21st February: National XC championships: Parliament Hill London.

The experience of a lifetime and many will say bigger than the FLM in an athlete’s diary.

Claire previously circulated a great article to enlighten those that have not run them. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/feb/26/athletics.comment

We are looking to have a small minicoach to travel together .There and back in the day, source a sports centre close to the venue to shower and change after and stop on the way back to eat.

Again the more runners and spectators the more fun.

A good number have asked about this and we have teams entered. Please can you confirm so that we can plan etc …No joke …..experience of a lifetime!

Sunday 29th March: Wilmslow ½ Marathon.

Our own event and all 5,000 places now gone.

This year this incorporates the English ½ m championship which also provides qualifying times for the world 1/2m trials.

Chip timing for the first time.

Given that this is our event and we have benefited from the trail upgrade and now an agreement to fund the ongoing maintenance of the trail and changing rooms, it is important that we provide necessary support: Same guidelines:

  1. Those that race must provide a marshal (some volunteers have found it easier to do it with a colleague, partner etc and clearly we all benefit.). Name, contact details and email address needed, and they must be aware that they will be contacted .Commitment usually 8.00-12.30 ish. Its actually great fun!
  2. Members not racing are expected to marshal.

Please can you confirm your marshal/s or put your name forward ASAP. Many thanks.

I am at training at AE Tuesday so can update, and discuss any of the above.
