Dog Bite

For the first time in 30 years, I was, today, attacked by I dog. I was just coming onto the bog when it made a bee-line for me, grabbed me by the calf then went back to its owner. The cuts aren't bad though one bled for a couple of hours but the calf muscle is sore. Anne, I'm sure correctly, says I should have got the owners name and address (not sure she'd have given it to me, the dogs name was Max) and that I should have reported it (to whom?), she also says that if it's bitten one runner and got away with it its likely to bite others. Any views?

If threatened by a dog, I think it best to turn and confront it whilst slowly backing away from the direction of its owner. The real problem is being surrounded by two (or more) aggressive dogs, as happened one Sunday on the ‘Rod 12’ run at the farm near Chorley. It took quite a time for the owner to call them off and I now avoid this route.
