Heaton Park X Country Kate Sutton

As always Nick has posted a prompt report. The view from the ladies team has had to wait for me to come back from a 40th party at Clitheroe rugby club…

The course was slightly different for the ladies this year with an extended lap in the bottom of the park. Good to see the fallen tree and stream crossing were still part of the route. Scrunching through the crisp autumn leaves as more floated down was a good distraction from battling with Rachel Pleeth from Macc – in the edge age won over youth.Sue was the first of our team from the off and as we ran down the first hill Clare and Sally G followed.

Clare admitted that she had to walk down the hill after the stream but still finished well despite turning an ankle. Sally moved on up through the field and we were led home by Sue. Despite having only just resigned from Ulverston we are allowed her as counter  – a good boost to our season.

Sally P is coming back to form and was strong on the uphill finish, follwed by Angie who said she enjoyed(!) the race. Julie was held-up by having to re-tie her laces X 2 – must have been taking lessons from Steve Russell. We await the results – although Macc were out in force we will have placed well in both seniors and vets.

3 weeks to the next race – 7 ran this time so we may be able to muster 2 teams next time ??
