Lancaster Half Marathon

Lancaster 1/2 Marathon – Sunday, 21st October 1st Trevor Morris 1:16:07 (PB), 2nd Les Hill 1.17:07 Approx. 250 finishers Ran with a group of 6 for the first 5 miles, then down to 3 of us, pushed on at 10 miles and didn’t dare look back from then.

I’m not improving that much – the course was 1/4 mile short on my garmin – confirmed by a number of others.

Pleasant, flat course – start & finish with a lap of the track, then out and back mostly alongside the river on a cycle track. For the first time I ran tactically rather than even paced, keeping with the lead group of 6 for the first 6 miles, then 3 of us until 10 miles. I then pushed on and was alone with the lead bike for the last 3 miles – I didn’t dare look back, but was a minute ahead of the second guy at the end. I had quite a shock to round the last bend and see 1:14 on the race clock, which was only started 1.5 minutes after the race began.

Delighted at the end and perfect selection to run this year – the winning times for the last 3 years were 73, 73 and 68 minutes.

  1. Trevor’s rate of improvement remains on target for him to break 2 hours in the 2012 Olympic marathon.
