As briefly mentioned in last months newsletter. Tony and I have been looking at various options for midweek races later this summer.
As a club we compete in races hosted by other clubs throughout the year but apart from the Half Marathon don’t host any other races ourselves. It is becoming quite noticable when you look at the midweek race fixture list just how many races there are in the Warrington, Altrincham, Buxton, North Staffs area and how there is nothing at all in our area.
To help redress the balance a couple of races have now been confirmed and entry forms are being circulated. We should be able to raise some money for local charities/organisations from these races.

Wed 8th August 7.15pm 4 mile road race from the David Lewis centre , Mill Lane, Warford
Thurs 6th September 7pm 5 Mile Multi-Terrain Race from Railway Inn5 Mile Multi-Terrain Race from Railway Inn , Mobberley.
I have started with these races because both can be hosted without making big manpower demands on the club and no upfront costs such as hire of facilities etc.
For the first race, The David Lewis Centre are supplying helpers who will look after all car parking requirements, drinks at the finish, signing within their grounds, first aid and some of the marshalling for us. Our club just needs to assist with On The Day entries, finish recorders and a few marshals.
For the second race Ian Smallwood is arranging for a local scout group to assist with much of the marshalling of the bridleways and drinks at the finish. Running Club assistance will be required for Car Parking, On The Day entries, finish recorders and a few marshals.
With some of these jobs, eg Car Parking and On The Day Entries it will be possible to help and also race, but I could also do with knowing who would be available to help without wanting to race. So don’t be shy, let me know if you are available to help and in what capacity?
