Cheshire Grand Prix

The team championship is based on the best five performances over the seven races, the individual on the best four.

standing after 5 races

Wilmslow Men are strongly placed with three first places in the five races. A fourth win at either Birchwood or Sutton should mean that we will retain the championship.

Wilmslow Ladies are also in first place, also have three first places but their position is less secure with Macclesfield having won the two other races. Again they need first place at either Birchwood or Sutton but linked to a good second in the other race.

Stuart Parrott leads the Men’s individual with Mick Fairs 7th., Mike Halman 8th. and Trevor Morris 10th. Mike, with three first places is hot favourite, a win at either Birchwood or Sutton would make him uncatchable.

At first look the Wilmslow ladies are totally dominant; Kate Ayres 1st., Jane Clarke 2nd., Kate Sutton 4th., Sally Maddock 6th., Julie Lucas 7th., Nicky Mowat 8th. and Penny Hinke 9th. but this does not tell the true story, it is extremely tight. Nicky Archer of Vale Royal has two wins and is best placed to take the championship and Nicola Bird, Ellesmere Port, is also a major threat to Kate and Jane. In addition Ann Farmer and Sarah Harris of Macclesfield, though neither can win, could, by their performances over the two remaining races, determine who does win.
