Shutlingsloe Fell Race

Another sleepless night with the hot weather had me scouring the various club sites for results.
Finally I tracked down the Shutlingsloe (Staffs Moorlands Summer Series).
Very hot conditions for the ninth race of our summer series with many WRC runners hunting for easy points after the low turn out last year. Malcolm leading the pack home in 3rd place closely followed by Mike and Stuart.
A favourite short race of mine last year involving a steep climb through the forest and open moorland to the summit of Cheshire’s ‘Eiger’ with fantastic views for those that had the time. Followed by a steep initial descent with the choice of 2 routes; the steps or the quicker grass hill. Then a sprint back down to the finish.
Having re-gained some strength after recent injuries I was pleased to knock 1 minute 12 seconds off last years time.

The full results are now up on the website. However, they have missed my name. For those interested in the sordid details, my race no. of 533 was mis-recorded as 583. I was therefore 115th in 36:19. The real no. 583 was 78th in 33:23. I have sent an email to the organisers about this.
