Not having any prizes means that we can have a large number of categories and records at BRTT. After Ian Smallwood’s performance last week I was thinking of adding “Cycled in from Wilmslow (cold and wet in pissing rain), ran 5k, cycled back to Wilmslow (cold and wet in pissing rain)”. There were two game entries in the new category this week from Jim and Geoff and both managed to excel in all three sections. Jim even managed to take a turn at the results desk to add a mental agility discipline.
In the torrential rain and muddy puddles it was no surprise that Malcolm came to the fore although I hadn’t previously appreciated that he actually runs faster in bad weather. His time of 16:48 stands second only to Mike Halman on the all time list.
Sue won the ladies race as usual and Mark had a good run for 6th.
The fact that 92 runners finished the 5k despite the downpour is partly down to the enthusiasm and support of the marshals – none more so than Kate and Penny on the bridge and Ray who seemed to be inseveral places at once.
1 Malcolm Fowler 16:48 (84.42%)
2 Rob Downs 17:09 (82.02%)
3 Jim Pendrill 17:26 (76.58%)
6 Mark Bale 19:05 (68.12%)
9 Sue Hool 19:52 (75.00%)
15 Geoff Gilbert 21:05 (73.52%)
92 finished 5k
