Second place and a fine course PB by Stuart signals his return to full power – his 82.22% inches him just above the all-conquering Jim in the age graded league. The performance of the day however was from a 9 year old Manchester Harrier who won the ladies race in an astonishing 20:44 – for comparison our own Vicky McKinnon has run 20:07.
Mike is "resting with a cold" this weekend and restricted himself to a sensible 5k in the park (followed by Congleton the day after).
At last free from the pressures of high office, ex-chairman Roy is now focussed on his running and more specifically putting Ian A in his place. There was great excitement as he clocked what he believed to be an Ashcroft-trumping time. Victory texts were fired off. Tragically the official results show him at 23:20 still 5s short of Ian's best – although I'm sure that this was set in much easier conditions – I mean there were a lot of slow runners in the way today … and the trees have grown since April stretching the course slightly … Fortunately we're here evey week.
06/10/2008 STOP PRESS: After a stewards inquiry into some funnel irregularities Roy's time has been improved to 23:13. See you next week then Ian.

46 Poy Pownall 23:13 (68.21%)

I now know how football managers feel when the opposition have been given a dodgy penalty in the last minute.
As you say I just need now to go down and put things right, except last time I was 20 seconds slower.
Sadly the only Saturdays I’m around between now and Dec 20th. co-incide with Heaton Park, Boggart Hole Clough and Langley. However I’m not sure I’m going to get a pass-out for BHC but might be able to sneak out early for Bramhall.
Available to marshal, or other duties, Nov 1.
