Summer Series finale

I am sorry that I have not seen everyone this last week or so but on arriving back from Botswana , I then had to catch a train to London the following day . I am sat by the Thames having coffee , feeling a touch nomadic .

I had further blood tests yesterday and walk with a limp!

My last attempts at running were at Goyt Valley …..enough said !

Congratulations to all that ran in the Summer series :

  • Damian , undefeated and the overall winner , followed by Malcolm and a point behind the everimproving Jim.
  • Vicky , undefeated in winning the ladies and follwed by Captain Kate.
  • Ian winning the competitive 4/5 group , Penny coming second and John right behind her .

Take a look at the qualifiers and we have raised the bar in races needed :

  • 2005 – 37
  • 2006 – 38
  • 2007 – 38
  • 2008 – 44
Surprisingly, consistently high numbers.
Brand new qualifiers this year (ie. who have not featured within the last three years above) include :
  • Ray Eagle
  • Vicky (nee)McKinnon
  • Paul Nichols
  • Sue Hoole
  • Rick Airs
  • Chris Watts
  • Amanda Bradbury
  • Sarah Waite
  • Angela Maziere
  • Sarah Miles
  • Nina Birch
  • Charlotte Godfrey
As you can see, mainly the new lady members.

It what makes a such a great club : we work hard , enjoy and encourage each other : with a recipe like that its no wonder that we have so many training and racing .

Well done everyone .

Nick.

  1. SUMMER COMPETITION
Our best supported summer series, so far, finished at Langley with another super turn out. I hope everyone enjoyed this years event. It was always intended as a focal point to monitor your improvements, and create a low key competitive and friendly atmosphere , something which you have all contributed to with your enthusiasm .
Your training wouldnt mean a great deal if you did not put yourself to the test occasionally. Along the way many categories have been won at events ,both team and individual, at the same time a victory for the men, and runners up for the ladies in the Cheshire Grand Prix , are testament to our quality.
Racing can be tough , we dont always produce our best , but sometimes we can suprise ourselves , quite a few of you have produced outstanding results this season ,
    so lets all keep trying.
Your T shirts ,and mugs will be produced soon , and a suitable occaison will be found for the presentation.
Well done to all forty four of you, no matter what position you finished , your way above ninety nine per cent of the population in fitness . I hope we can keep it that way.
    Tony

  2. Fantastic comments from Tony , right on every count .
We all of course owe a large debt to Tony and Paul for their unstinting support often on dark and cold wintry nights .
Every season is different , thus winter follows summer and brings a different dimension to our running . Cold and crisp mornings/evenings …wet and muddy trails .
One thing that does not change is our collective ability to work together , offering support and encouragement ….and of course great friendship over a drink in the bar !
    Enjoy your running .
    Nick.
