Wilmslow Women at the Nationals

Nick has already posted the outcome of out trip to Sutton Coldfield. He hasn't mentioned the spade work he did getting our entry completed 4 days after the Northern qualifiers.

I don't recommend a 2 hour traffic jam on the M6 as pre-race prep. After some frantic texting to Vicky on her way up from Devon she was there in time to get our numbers at midday. The race secretary had been most helpful and we all breathed a sigh of relief when he confirmed  the delay in the start time from 12.20 to 1.05. We arrived at 12.30 and due to the compact lay out of the event soon found Vicky, our numbers and the start.

The race route was undulating and fast – no climb as at Stockport.Their team starting the race 2 1/2 mins after everyone else due to the delay..

Fascinating to watch the elite runners such as Steph Twell who ran 15:15. Great support from Clare Hawkes and Clare Stevinson. Fab fresh, hot donuts after the race to celebrate!

Other local results:

Sale Harriers 15th 1:50:21

Wilmslow      29th 2:02:54

Stockport      41st 2:09:46

Trafford        43rd 2:14:41

The sun shone, we raced out hearts out and would compete again next year. Congratulations Vicky, Sarah, Angie, Catriona and Sue for making it happen.

Kate Sutton.

  1. Well done Trevor for spotting my typo. The Wilmslow time should have read 2:02:54!
