Mellor Show Race 24th July (4.6 mile 600ft)
A brand new race on the Hayfield Fell race site meant a later start to Saturday than the rush to get to Bramhall and warmed up for 9. The course was well marshalled and marked but I tucked in behind local boy Tom who knew the route. This was my sort of fell race, as there was quite a bit of tarmac and trails and the descents were easy enough for a road softie. The race seemed to go very well and may well become a regular fixture, good luck to the organisers. Young James who thought there was a kids race was thrown in at the sharp end and had a ding dong battle with Des Gibbons of Pennine, losing out in the final 1/2 mile to the ex England runner.
