Grindleford Gallop, Saturday 12th March.
Snow was forecast for the week end, so three intrepid souls went to Grindleford for 21 miles of …as it turned out…glorious spring sunshine. I am great believer in the long distance walkers events, they are very civilised, cup of tea at 10 miles, cake and biscuits for strength before the last big hill and big bowl of soup to celebrate the finish. This event takes you round the white peak of Derbyshire, along old railway lines, across Chatsworth park and finishes it off with a few miles along the gritstone edges.
The times are skewed depending on how many cups of tea you drink/ cakes you eat. For the record my garmin provided the following information.
1 David Riach 2:26:51
19 Ian Smallwood 2:55:24
40 Steve Smith 3:05:03
52 Andy Watts 3:09:10
