Our previous hilly races have included the Stainland 7 and the Langley. How does the Bluebell compare?
The Bluebell has a total of around 1,400 feet of climbing, nearly twice that of the Langley and significantly more than the Stainland 7. It does not rise so high above sea level (indeed only just gets up to the level at which Stainland starts), but is clearly the hardest climb of any club race. The profiles for Stainland and Langley are below.
Plus we can also look at the Meerbrook 15k. A challenging race over about the same distance as the Bluebell, but not quite as severe at 1,150 ft of climb. The Meerbrook also has less gradient, with a single steady hill tackled twice, compared with the single massive cliff on the Bluebell.
How about Meerbrook Killer 15? That left emotional scars!

Indeed, anyone know the feet ascent for Meerbrook??

Interesting graphs. Hope you don’t mind, but I’ve borrowed an image of the Stainland 7 graph and used it on our website to promote/discourage competitors. I’ve added a credit.
Hope to see some of you running the race on the 4th September. It’s now open for entry at http://www.stainlandlions.com
I know how much you like our hills!
Regards.
