Trafford AC Open Meeting – Tuesday 31st May

100m: Matt Atkinson 13.22 secs

800m: Matt Atkinson 2.21.40

I decided to just give the 100m sprint a try just to satisfy my curiosity as to just how much faster Usain Bolt is compared to me, it turns out quite a lot quicker in fact. I struggled to explode out of the blocks like my competitors but managed to slowly pull them in by the end. The 800m was a more familiar distance after a couple of attempts last summer, I was hoping to beat my PB of 2.20.10 but fell just short as a very fast early pace meant I didn’t have the energy to summon up my usual fast sprint finish. It was a very enjoyable evening with support and advice supplied by Steve Smith.

    Well done Matt I think your times were great for both events on the track & a pb at Dunham recently.

    Matt, You are less than 4 seconds slower than Usain Bolt!
    If I was 4 seconds slower than Mo Farah in my next 10k I would be well happy!
