Usual Course: A map of the course (Google and OS map versions) is on the Club Routes page, or click here.
Rugby Club, over Twinnies Bridge, left, over footbridge, second gate on the left, upper footpath to Mill car park. Cross road, footpath to Norcliffe Chapel, on to Altrincham road, left. Follow road, fork left through gate, continue to runway, forced left alongside runway, then after half a mile, footpath left dropping down towards main road. Go through iron gate, turn left onto the old road and then, almost immediately, left again onto the footpath (you are now just across the Bollin from the side of the Holiday Inn (known to the locals as the Valley Lodge). Follow footpath alongside the river to and up first set of steps, over bridge then up and down second set of steps. Right across bridge, left at end and then after 300m take a right (it's tempting to go straight on) bringing you back onto bank of Bollin. Up third set of steps, continue up gentler climb and then take footpath to right as path flattens. To road, right, downhill past Mill, follow river to Twinnies Bridge and finish at the Rugby Club.
Food and Drink: Runners and spectators invited to 36 Carrwood Road immediately after the finish.
At 9:57 we’ll take a minute to remember Sue Hool, our, then, leading lady runner , who died just before Christmas 2009.
Ian
Is it possible for someone to mark a map, as per the training routes from Lyme Park, with the course.
Thanks
Mike
Map would be really good, as I am not sure of this route from the text, Thanks Angus
Anyone fancy predicting a winner having studied the handicaps? Whenever I’ve predicted a winner in previous years they’ve usually had a bad run so I won’t name my favourite this year. But just say that my prediction is one of the male runners in the first column!
Malcolm and I may, or may not, have honed-in on the same person but my favouroite is also male and in the first column.
Guys, I’m flattered!
Thanks for the map upload.
I ran the course yesterday, just to confirm I could find the route. The ice was treacherous on the hard paths and the roads down the side of the run way.
Caution will be needed of conditions persist on the 27th.
Can’t be worse than it was last year Mike!! I wasn’t running but supporting at the Valley Lodge turn, enduring memories of Chris Cannon “sprinting” on, regardless of the blood flowing down his leg after an argument with the ice!
