Four Villages Half

The Four Villages Half Marathon went off without incident, with some excellent Wilmslow performances.  The day was cold, with a strong westerly wind which buffeted the field on some stretches of the course.  The rain held off until about the 2 hour mark, and so the end of the field got an additional soaking to add to their worries.  Results (straight off the web-site, so not checked yet) are as follows.  If you know of any errors/omissions please let Andy and Ian know (and, of course, the race organisers).

  1. Big congratulations to Alan, Amanda and Sharon who got half marathon PB’s today in tough race conditions!
    Fantastic!
Apologies if I missed anyone out there…

  2. That really felt like one of the hardest HMs I’ve done. Well run everyone!
Lots of photos at Mick Hall and also here http://www.flickr.com/photos/davepinno/

  3. The wind was at 12 metres per second, from the west, which is Force 6. Nearly all runners were slower than usual this year because of this. With the repeated changes of direction on the Four Villages course, the wind was mainly a hindrance, especially as a cross-wind, when it was not so easy to shelter behind another runner. I would guess it cost about 3 minutes for 8 minute milers, and disproportionally more for slower runners. So, people who got PBs did really well, and should expect to get PBs again in the Wilmslow HM!
    Trevor
